Magdalenefjorden, Svalbard

Water ripples in Magdalenefjorden, and 8km long, 5km wide fjord on the west coast of Spitsbergen, in the Arctic archipelego of Svalbard. Large cruise ships regularly enter the fjord. However, heavy fuel oil, which is used in many ships, is banned in Magdalenefjorden. However, Magdalenefjorden is regarded as having being sacrificed to tourism to protect other areas of Svalbard.
