Coal mining machinery, Longyearbyen
Old coal mining machinery, Longyearbyen, Svalbard. Coal mining was the basis for the creation of Longyearbyen, 1300km from the North Pole. Now the remains are left as historic reminders of the past, while coal mines elsewhere in Spitsbergen are now the main focus.
