Windmills in Crete
Mountaintop windfarm in Chania prefecture, Crete, Greece. There is strong potential for further development of wind energy in Crete, which leads Greece in renewable energy generation. Current research suggests that wind could account for up to 70% of Crete's energy needs. Crete already has 160 mw of wind power with another 60 megawatts expected to be taken up soon, and 90 megawatts of photovoltaic solar farms are also expected.
