Boiling River - Hot Springs on the Gardner River

Where Boiling River meets the Gardner River, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, close to the 45th parallel, halfway between the equator and the North Pole. At Boiling River, hot springs mix with the icy cold water of the Gardner, providing a unique experience for bathers, who have the strange sensation of one foot numb with cold from the mountains, while the other is almost scalded by the thermal spring water.

The Gardner is a tributary of the Yellowstone River - this image was taken close to its confluence with the larger river.
