Coronavirus lockdown: Organic Baker Guillem Giné

25 March 2020 - 1.5 weeks into coronavirus lockdown. Guillem Giné, the owner of a small organic bakery Pastisseria Complet in Sant Cugat del Valles, prepares ingredients for tomorrow’s bread. Like everywhere in Spain, the state of emergency and lockdown ensures streets are empty in Sant Cugat del Valles, a normally bustling city of some 90,000 people just outside Barcelona. Most businesses, except those supplying food & pharmacies, are closed. But even if things are quiet, small businesses like Guillem’s are toiling away to feed people. By 25th of March Spain had suffered more fatalities from Covid-19 than China, making it the 2nd worst affected country after Italy. Copyright Dave Walsh 2020.
