MV Plassey Shipwreck, Inisheer

The shipwreck of the MV Plassey, Inisheer, Aran Islands, wrecked in 1960. The Plassey was an Irish Merchant Vessel, formerly Shakesperian class naval trawler from WWII. Best known from the opening titles of the TV show Father Ted. On 8 March 1960, while sailing through Galway Bay carrying a cargo of whiskey, stained glass and yarn, it was caught in a severe storm and ran onto Finnis Rock, Inisheer, Aran Islands.
