Balos Bay is a famous landmark in northwest Crete. Accessible only by a 10km dirt road or by boat, it's turquoise waters attract tourists from around the world. The beach, however, is marred by tarballs and plastic flotsam - product of Mediterranean and the millions of plastic drink bottles dumped into the global environment every year.
