Portraits of Dutch artist, actor and filmmaker Martha Van Der Bly, made in London, April 2010 - some inspired by Roman Polanksi's film 'Repulsion'. In the photo series "Rue de Paradis, Paris", Martha takes on the role of Anezka, a Czech fashion designer, who lives with her sister in Paris. Winter arrives in the Vondelpark, Amsterdam.

If I'm in the middle of nowhere, I photograph subtle magic, the sublime snowscapes and seascapes and landscapes. While others marvel at the beauty of Amsterdam, I can't help but find the odd stuff, and indulge in street photography and the amazement of an alien - a foreigner no matter what country he's in.

An abandoned herbalist shop in Rethymno, Crete. It was owned, apparently, by Panajiotis and or Dimitrios Kontogianis. Fragements of clues - names on packets of dried herbs, a faded, stained photograph of the proprieter. What happened here?

The Petrol Emotion, who reformed to play Electric Picnic 2008, after a 14-year hiatus - and the crowd goes crazy. That Petrol Emotion were/are a London-based band, made up of Northern Irish members, plus a singer from Seattle, Steve Mack. That Petrol Emotion are recognised as being purveyors of the indie dance movement - so far ahead of their time that it seemed to work against them. Exploring the places in between places where borders sometimes slice through culture.

A series of images made in beautiful winter light on the Irish sea breaking, on Curracloe Beach, Wexford, Ireland, Christmas Eve 2012. Winter sun breaks through a dull Christmas Eve in Wexford. I make for the beach, catch the light before it vanishes behind the trees at Raven point. The next day, Christmas Day, I return and swim, arcs of pain shooting through my shins as I wade into the cold water of the Irish Sea.

It has taken not much more than half a century to turn the Gulf of Mexico into an Urban Ocean, dotted with 27,000 abandoned wells, and nearly 4,000 active platforms, interconnected by an incredible 40,000km of pipelines.
